General Interest
Oana Ban helps the Romanian team to the Olympic title in 2004 ! She was a favorite for the All Around event as well, but had to withdraw due to an injury.
Oana was first selected in the national junior team in 1999. She had success in winning the Top Gym tournament and Junior Cup in Zoetermeer, Holland.
In 2001 she earned 5 medals in the Junior Olympic at Murcia, Spain. However, she missed the 16 y.o. age limit to go to the Ghent World Championships by 11 days.
In 2002, she made it to the senior national team under coaches Octavian Belu and Mariana Bitang. As many members in the team, she had to overcome some injury problems but she managed to compete brilliantly at the Debrecen World Championships, getting a silver medal on beam and a 4th place on floor.
Small but powerful, Oana has a friendly reputation. She was a leader in the Romanian team and the Olympic Games 2004 were the ultimate goal .

Her leizure includes puzzles, computer and drawing Walt Disney characters. Quite an artistic person !

[Jan 04] Oana Ban, among Top Personalities in Cluj & Romania!
Oana Ban, former member of Romanian Athens Olympic Gold Team, was named among Top Personalities of the Year by the weekly "Clujeanul" which appears in Cluj (Oana's hometown).

Oana have won the second place, after Mr.Boc, the new Mayor of Cluj and new leader of the ruling party (and former Opposition candidate, one which Oana have voted and supported, according to press interviews before and during elections).
