[Dec 6] Maria Olaru's drama : who's next?

Maria Olaru has avoided in the last minute a possible paralyze by doing an emergency operation in Budapest, Romania. A metal implant was inserted between her L1 and L1 vertebras.

The tragedy (God Forbid!) can repeat any time, since many of former Romanian gymnasts does not take care of themselves by doing serious medical checking and MRI (Romanian-RMN) exams and take risks by performing in various acrobatic-alike shows. Most of them (the medalists) receive serious monthly bonuses from ROC ("renta viagera"), and also support from RGF, if they need to do these checkups. They didn't used this opportunity.

It looks like Maria Olaru was encouraged (she is a "favorite" and close to the former coaches; use to defend/backup them) to take some bad decisions last summer: appearances in St.Tropez (Antena 1 show) and, few weeks ago, in the ProTv show "Dancing for You"-which has definitely pushed her to the limits. I didn't want to write, back then, about her appearance in the show because both the jury (those pigs have to apologize now for their bad, words on about her evolution-she was very ill, close to broke her neck, you idiots!) and anybody else could saw she was moving very bad for a dancer, performing very rigid -almost strange for a former gymnast.

The true came up last days, with the news from gymnastics "family"
and from a tabloid which wrote about her surgery.

We asked today some of Maria's Olaru closest contacts about the surgery. She told them she don't want to make big fuss about her surgery, she don't like/need any scandal around this bad moment in her life. She paid herself the treatment in Budapest.
Since the tabloids already printed the story (and this is answer to Sergio who send me the below message), I have to tell you this:
  1. God is good; maybe it's a bad idea to upset Him by telling lies (everything was fine at team-alike)
to support (abusive) former coaches; a Romanian saying says "D-zeu nu da cu batul, iti trimite alte semne!" -God don't punch you with a stick, it sends you other kind of messages! After many TV appearances in interviews supporting her former coaches during Petrovschi case, where are we now? Oana Petrovschi has proved (in a Court) that she was right (and we were, too-by the way!) and she got the car, the money, respect and had entered into the history of gymnastics; on the other side...Maria was pretty close to a drama. Maybe a (hard) Lesson from "Him"?
2.It has been proved now that bad advises can take you close to broke your neck!
A good lesson to other former romanian gymnasts: have a (serious) medical checkup, before doing any more gymnastics (shows or whatever)!

Anyway, we keep our fingers crossed for Maria Olaru!
If you have a message to support her, send it us using our Contact page.

A Romanian gymnastics fan message:
I don't know if you might be interested in posting this in your site.
It seems like this was pretty sudden and had to be done urgently! The surgery happened last week after doctors found out about some serious problem between L1-L2 of her back. She seems to be better now!!
Regards, Sergio
