The Pope
[April 2nd-just before the sad news]
I'm not a religious person (as many of you, probably). But
these days, when the Pope may have its last hours among us,
we owe him-at list I feel we have to-a short moment to remember
of what we have better today-as a result of his courage, hard
work and sacrifice.
From obvious reasons, many details of Pope
involvement in some political changes still remain undisclosed.
But after a former East European secret service (Bulgarian)
have tried to kill him (following the orders of the Evil forces
at the time- the Russian ones), people have started to understand
that, if the Pope was so dangerous for communists so they
could risk such a measure, he should done something very important
and " bad" -for them.He did.
As a native from former (communist) East
European country (Romania), I know that we owe (so) much to
the Pope John Paul II (and to the former Bush Sr.President)-which
have joined their efforts, back in 80's , to break the communism
down from Eastern Europe, staring with Poland, later with
Hungary and, in a bloody December, with Romania. The Pope
have had a key role in all positive changes in Europe in 80's
and we have to say this.
The Pope John Paul II was the first Pope ever to visit an
Orthodox country
-Romania, where he even have held a common religious service
with the local Orthodox priests. He also visited Cuba, after
decades of isolation, bringing hope to those people.
They have finally succeeded, and all of us who use to live
there are grateful for this; otherwise, maybe the history
would be different and we could be starved for many years
to come and behind the iron wall for many other long years.
...
Maybe the new Pope would continue these efforts to spread
the liberty and democracy around the World. We owe this to
our Pope.
Pope and Romanian gymnastics
Mona Rosu is a catholic and I'm sure she pry these days for
the Pope. If the communism wasn't pushed out from Romania,
she couldn't even dare to speak about any other religion than
being a...communist. Some dictatorial attitudes still remain
at the team coaches, but this can not last much more.
During the communist years, girls could only say their prayers
in silence in their rooms. Now they can and do go frequently
at Church. Sometime, even if they don' t want to go to a particular
Church, being a member of a different religion (as reported
back last few years).
The coaches violence's against girls from the team (very common
during communism years) have ceased slowly after the communism
went down (unfortunately, only after some major press scandals
in 90' s). The verbal abuses still goes on, but you can't
expect much from people who don't really believe in
God and they were ' educated' in the most dictatorial spirit
and to disrespect those which are under their ruling.
Monica Rosu uncle, who live in Italy, was asked recently to
arrange a visit for the girls from national team to the Pope.Of
course, coaches could think about this during Pope's visit
in Romania-but few years ago they don't care much about this
aspect.
...Right
now they said from Vatican that the Pope have died. Sad day.
