Monica
Zahiu selling her medals...at Kensky Show
[Dec 03] Monica Zahiu and Maria
Olaru were the guests of "Kensky Show" ,
aired by Romanian Prima TV station earlier today. The today
edition was called "Glory pass away, people remain."
Monica received, during the show, from a famous (Constanta
based) senator, Dorel
Onaca, through the Prima TV station, the amount of $1,000
, as a special incentive, to help her change her minds and
not selling her medals (the package includes 29 medals, 6
cups and other trophies. It *costs* 15,000 Euro, and the most
valuable is her 1995 Jr. Euro bronze medal.).
During the show, another fan of Romanian gymnastics
have offered like $100 (according to his own possibilities)
for one of her medals, but Mona denied the offer. The fan
said that he was very impressed by a TV story aired few weeks
ago, when Monica has appeared at prime time news program,
in a live interview, speaking about her financial difficulties
and her hard decision to sell all her medals, hoping to raise
enough money to buy a small, single bedroom apartment.
Asked about her earning from gymnastics (such very personal
questions are still common from some unskilled TV reporters),
Maria
Olaru said that "I've earned as much as I can
have a decent life".
Maria
Olaru gave to Monica some suggestions: "She can
teach lessons at a local fitness club, at gymnastics club."
Monica replied that young people are paid very low, like $30
a month, part-time, and she can not support her and her baby
from this.
Maria
Olaru: "It was better for you if you just could
finish your school, at least the high school. I have a lost
of other classes, besides my University degree, and I still
feel like I need more diplomas to succeed in life".
Maria
Olaru:"If a child does not want to make efforts
for achieving top results, you can't do much about ."
Zahiu:"These medals (she came at show
with all her medals) are my 9-years work in gymnastics."
The man who was invited as a gymnastics fan
said: "It looks to me that this is a terrible thing for
Romanian people, that a former champion have to live like
this. I can't blame Monica, but it's partly her fault, too,
because she didn't finished her school (high school).
Does the Glory deserve any sacrifice? asked
the host of the show.
"Within some limits" said some guests.
"Yes, deserve any sacrifice"-said former champion
Maria
Olaru, continuing: "Life itself is a competition
and we have to be winners".
Monica Zafiu: "...for me it doesn't matter any more."
Sad, but true.
[Jan 09] Monica Zahiu : Mariana
Bitang use to call us 'vaci medaliate'... "
Prima TV station have aired a replay
of their previous "Kensky" TV show.
Our previous Report on this was referring only to the second
part of the show, the one which our contributor was able to
see after being alerted. (The Prima TV station is the only
one there which does not have a next night/day replay on their
programs).
This time, we were able to see the first part,
to be updated later this week. Basically, Monica Zahiu said
that Mrs.Mariana
Bitang (which, no surprise, denied the invitation
made by the show host) use to call the girls from the National
Team, back in '90's, with names like "vaci medaliate"-like
"meddled cows", "taranci cu calciiele crapate"and
so on.
We just wonder (like Monica in that show)
if Mariana
Bitang use same kind of language with her own Son
or "Stepdaughter"?
